Fall Break Workshops
September 15-18, 2008
**New for Fall 2008**--Towne Lake Arts Center is providing FOUR fun and informative theatrical workshops for ALL AGES! If you’ve always wanted to learn more about theatre, here’s your chance! With auditions for TLAC’s A Christmas Carol at the end of September 2008, these workshops are a perfect to get any actor prepared for a big audition!
Each workshop will take place from 1-4pm during Fall Break.

DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOPS:
'Nailing That Audition' No matter how good you are, or how perfectly you fit a particular role, you won't get cast if you don't know how to audition. In this workshop, instructor Paul Boehlert will show you how to conquer your butterflies and WOW 'em! We'll explore cold readings and prepared monologues, share some tips for focusing and avoiding distractions, talk about what to wear (and what definitely NOT to wear), how to do a slate for stage or on-camera audition, and reveal the secrets of The Amazing Five-Minute Character Study, plus much more! Take the pressure off yourself and ensure a dynamic audition with this fun and fast-paced workshop. Space is limited, so sign up today!
‘How-to Audition for a Musical’ A sequel to the previous Audition workshop, ‘How-to Audition for a Musical’ will help you become even more prepared for one of the toughest types of auditions. Siobhan Collins, choreographer for You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown and Seussical, will take you step-by-step through both music and dance auditions. We’ll discuss what it takes to be a triple threat, what type of music to sing, how to prepare music, the best ways to overcome ‘two left feet’, what to wear, and lots more! So bring some comfortable clothes and shoes and get ready to dance your way to the top!
'Act Like a Pro: Getting Into the Acting Biz' If you dream of making a career in the entertainment industry, you MUST take this information-packed workshop taught by veteran pro Paul Boehlert. Positive, supportive and welcoming, 'Act Like a Pro' shows students that a successful career you'll love is within anyone's grasp. We'll talk about what directors and casting agents are looking for (and it's not what you think!). Then we'll explore the essential trinity of personal marketing materials and resources--the headshot, the actor's resume and the demo reel. You'll learn how to present yourself to an agent and secure representation, how to maximize your 'cast-a-bility'--and make sure everybody knows what you can do. Jump-start your career and start becoming that greatest of all performers--a working professional actor.
‘Theatre Games for All Ages!’ Ever wonder why Improvisational Actors have rehearsals? Need something to pep up a youth group or classroom? Come and enjoy this fun and interactive workshop, taught by TLAC Improv Troupe founder and leader Siobhan Collins. You’ll learn the basics of improv along with some entertaining games to use at parties, meetings, camps, or with just about anyone. Be prepared to have loads of fun and let loose!
